Music
St. Michael’s Choir School strives to serve God, the Universal Church, the Archdiocese of Toronto, and the community with commitment and joy through sacred music. It also works to safeguard and develop the living tradition of music specific to the Roman Rite, with a focus on Gregorian chant and polyphony.
The Choir School is a resource for knowledge in sacred music and liturgy. If you are a researcher, scholar or composer looking for information or resources specific to sacred music, please contact us at musicoffice@smcs.on.ca.
St. Michael's Choir School has one of the largest Sacred Music Libraries in Canada, with over 5000 pieces in the collection. If you are a composer, or a church musician, and are looking for a certain piece, hymn, or psalm, please do not hesitate to contact us at library@smcs.on.ca.
This resource provides the Communion antiphons from the Graduale Romanum alongside the appointed psalm verses pointed for singing in English to Gregorian psalm tones, for all Sundays and solemnities. Additional verses for the introits of Lent are also provided.
Mr. Philip Fillion instructs in organ at St. Michael’s Choir School and is the organist for St. Michael’s Cathedral. Mr. Fillion can be reached at organist@smcs.on.ca.
